Filing A Complaint
The Kansas City, Missouri NAACP Branch does not provide legal representation or legal advice. The Legal Redress Committee is comprised of volunteers that investigate allegations of discrimination that occurred in the Kansas City Missouri area to determine, what if any advocacy support can be provided. We only investigate complaints that occurred in the Kansas City, Missouri area. However, we may provide legal information and referrals to other organizations that may provide the assistance needed. For legal advice, you should consult a local attorney.
How to Request a Complaint Form
Complainants may complete the (1) online, (2) fillable PDF, or (3) hard copy Complaint Form. To request a PDF fillable or hard copy Complaint Form, go to Contact Us and submit your request. The fillable PDF form or the hard copy will be emailed to you.
The Use of the Official Complaint Form
The NAACP requires that all complainants submit the official “Complaint Form.” The form must be completed, signed, and dated. Summarize the facts surrounding your complaint and add any additional supporting documents.
Submission of Complaint Form
Once submitted, your complaint will be forwarded to the Legal Redress Committee. A representative of the Legal Redress Committee will contact you via email using the email provided on the complaint form or by the phone number you provide. Please check your spam or junk folder if you do not receive a response in your email inbox.

I hereby authorize the officers of the Kansas City, Missouri NAACP branch to have access to information and documents, which are relevant to my claim of discrimination described above.

I understand that once a referral has been made to a volunteer, community agency or private attorney, the Kansas City, Missouri Branch WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for handling this matter. I further understand that by signing this document, I am agreeing to HOLD the Kansas City, Missouri Branch harmless for any and all damages arising as a result of my case being mishandled, negligently handled or improperly handled in any way.

Please be advised that filing a discrimination complaint with the NAACP does not mean that NAACP will be representing you in any legal matter. If you believe you have a discrimination claim, you must file a claim with the appropriate State or Federal agency in a timely manner. Failure to do so may prevent you from pursuing a claim in a court of law. This is not a retainer agreement. The Kansas City, Missouri Branch is not serving as your attorney. We recommend that you retain counsel as soon as possible. The Kansas City, Missouri Branch is merely conducting an investigation.

Section 704 (a) of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, (as amended), Section 4 (d) of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, (as amended) and various other civil rights laws make it an unlawful employment practice for an employer; employment agency; or because of the organization: to discriminate against employees, applicants for employment, member or applicant for membership, because the employee, member or applicant has opposed an unlawful employment practice, made a change, testified, assisted, or participated in any manner in an investigation, proceeding or hearing.
